Greetings from the Imagine Madison Team!

Thank you for your interest in Imagine Madison and your participation in updating our Comprehensive Plan. This is the first Imagine Madison update. Your input is vital to the success of this effort.

City Snapshot

Do you know how many new homes were built in Madison in the last decade? How about how much Madison is expected to grow in the next 25 years? Where are all the jobs? Just how many cars are on the Beltline? If you’ve ever wondered where this information was, or wished you had all that data at your fingertips, then you’ll be pleased to know we’ve compiled and published City Snapshot, a book of data, trends, and other information for the city. Click here to view or download City Snapshot on the Imagine Madison website.

Kickoff Community Meeting

In just three weeks, we’ll host our first community meetings! The first Imagine Madison community meeting will be Monday, December 5 at the Central Library (201 W. Mifflin St.). If you can’t make it on Monday, a second meeting with the exact same agenda and presentation will be held on Wednesday, December 7 in the Atrium Community Room at Village on Park (2300 S. Park St.). Both meetings will include an open house from 5:30-6:15 pm, an interactive presentation from 6:15-7:15, and an open house and discussion time from 7:15-8:00. Light hors d'oeuvres will be provided and we are working on childcare arrangements.

Resident Panels

We’re currently accepting letters of interest for a new public engagement opportunity. Resident Panels are intended to be groups of 10-15 individuals from communities that are less likely to participate in city planning processes, such as African Americans, Hispanics, Hmong, and lower income populations. The City will provide funding to selected groups to facilitate a series of meetings of the Resident Panels throughout 2017. If you, your group, or an organization you’re associated with is interested in participating, go here or contact Kirstie Laatsch, City Planner at (608)243-0470 or imaginemadison@cityofmadison.com.

Comments

This is so wonderful..thank you for offering the opportunity to contribute thoughts and ideas to all citizens.

I would like to see a community that is inclusive and addresses our diversity in a healthy way. I see that you are doing that in setting up panels. Let's come up with inventive ways to raise academic achievements for all students. More employment opportunities for our minority youth.

I would like to see our downtown area much more festive around the holidays. More white lights in trees surrounding the capitol, etc.
